Heart
43″For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
This verse is often used to talk about the negative side of this illustration. However, there is a positive side to this as well.
“The good person out of the treasure of his heart produces good…for out of the abundabce of the heart his mouth speaks.”
This is a challenge as we worship. Is worship what is going on in our hearts, or is it simply a mindset? Are the words we say, pray, and sing simply overflows from what we have in our heart, because we cannot hold it in, or is it because we feel like we have to have something to say, even if we don’t feel it? We should speak because we have something to say, not because we have to say something.
And let it be worship overflowing from the worship going on internally…
