Worship Bands and Sound Men
So I have to vent for a minute, if you’ll allow me. This past Sunday, we decided to make some changes from a really pathetic sound system setup to a good (read “decent”) one. We have been running sound from the front row for some time now, and I have hated it. Sound does not belong in the front row. We had to improv for a while because our board was not powerful enough to run through th 100′ snake we need to use to reach the back, but it was never intended to be a permanent fixture. So this Sunday, we added two amps to power the speakers from up front and ran the snake to the back for sound and powerpoint and stuff. (excuse all the tech jargon, if you don’t understand. it was just a much better setup.) It was fabulous. Everybody loved it. Except the sound man. Now he is quitting on me.
So there were a lot of tensions on Sunday morning because of that, and there are some other things going on as well, which I do not know in entirety yet. All this to say, please pray for my band at church, that attitudes would be level, tempers would be subdued, and that Christ would be glorified in our interactions.
May we all show love for those around us, not just as much as we love ourselves, but as much as God loves them. This is a high calling…
