Hey everyone,
Sorry it took me so long to post! I found something that I wrote quite some time ago and felt that I should share this with more than a few people. I have been reading a lot about race issues and have found that we, as a country, are not making nearly enough progess in breaking down the race barriers. So here is a little something that came to mind….
I was reading the book called “Ever-Loving Truth”, an amazing book by Voddie Baucham Jr, and he was talking about hate crimes in America. Well first of all, I had no clue that if a black man were to kill a white man, not only is he guilty of murder, but he is also guilty of a hate crime, which ultimately leads to a more severe punishment. The interesting thing is, if the black man were to kill, oh lets say an Asian, there would be no hate crime even concidered. But is not any murder derrived from hate? So why the “hate crime” stipulation? Perhaps its just another way for the government to say “hey, we are trying to do something about this race issue”. Here is a story for ya…on November 6th 2002 at the University of Alabama, two black students woke up to find their room painted with every vile racial slur thinkable. There was also a stick figure painting of a lynching on one of the walls. The students and their parents demanded justice. They could not imagine that in the year 2002, there were still people who found things like that to be appropriate. Now here is the punch…nothing ever happened. No drastic action was taken. Why? Because the students who pulled the prank were black. Now you know that if it were two white students who did it, the NAACP, ALCU, and Rev. Al Sharpton would have been on the scene raising hades. Not to mention that a simple apology would not have been acceptable anyway. My point… this whole thing about whites out to get blacks and vise versa is getting a bit played out. I think its terrible that when a white is found guilty of robbing a black, the assumption is made that the white robbed the black because he was black, not because the black person had something that the white person wanted. Blacks rob blacks all the time, yet there is no stipulation for that. Just something that was on my mind…
