The Worship Gathering - “Stay for Awhile”-Week 2
This week’s worship gathering was incredibly humbling. A few months back, I wrote the title cut for the next album, “Undeserving”. The chorus to the song begins, “So I’ll stay for a while, here at your feet.” I felt like these words and this idea needed to be the focus of our thoughts for the night.
I don’t know about you, but I find myself getting caught up in the daily grind. I become so caught up with the hustle and bustle of every day, the work, the meetings, the recording sessions, and then it’s 10:30 at night and I realize that I haven’t even taken time to eat that day. The other interesting thing that happens is I find myself going long periods of time feeling like God isn’t saying anything (as if He’s mute, what an unbelievable thought).
I’m reminded of the story of Elijah who was looking to hear God in the wind, the earthquake, and the fire, but the voice of God came after the fire in a gentle whisper.
So many times, I find myself being consumed with everything going on and still wanting to hear God. However, I don’t take the time to silence myself and my life and listen for the gentle whisper.
So, I challenged myself and everyone else there this week to take a few moments and “stay for awhile” and listen to the voice of God and see what he might say. We sat there for about 10 minutes not saying or doing anything. Out of that time, came an amazing encounter with our Creator.
The challenge continues throughout the weekto spend 10 minutes every day in silencenot saying a word!
